Here are 10 maps for you guys to pick and choose from. These are all height maps, and do not show polar ice caps and the like. Remember that both mountains and climates will be 100% changeable, so really the only thing important in these maps is the shape of landmasses themselves. All of these are 2800 x 1400; this will be doubled when the map is chosen.

Hi there, these are all round maps, which distorts it to where it's hard to tell which bodies of land are connected or not.
Can I get a flat map?

Why do I have a feeling that it is going to be "Tale of Two cities" manifested in Tiberiam???

To speed things along, I'm going to make this the last 24 hours I will be taking votes. Just FYI I'd like to change my vote to world 8 if anyone is okay with that.

This currently puts #2 in the lead with 3 votes, and #8 in second place..

EDIT: Oh and sorry Donk I didn't see your request. However I don't think there's any way for me to get the poles 100% accurate, at least not without sacrificing the quality of the equatorial areas. However I will be making maps of any notable landmasses or islands, so I will have accurate maps of the poles on their own. However, I don't want to make these specific maps until we've picked a continent.

I honestly don't mind either, actually... in fact, I can work with 1 as well. It will make World Wars just THAT much more fun lol =D

Okay with my re-assigned vote it seems to be a tie. Any wish to change their vote or caste a tie-breaker? 6 votes have been cast which seems to be about how many regulars we have.

My personal view is that plot 2 will make an interesting RP without making things complicated...

Mainly because EVERYONE can be involved (since the continents are so close to one another.). That AND I believe that having several different regional continents like last time had sort of weird side effect where we didn't utilize every plot. I think with two massive lands so close to one another, it would be awesome to have all the places open at the get-go to allow for some seriously weird countries to rise... that and since we are in modern era, I doubt that distances will be an issue in terms of military anyways... and we can always use the delay... damn instant deployments... I'm SO going to fix that...

Regardless, for those reasons above, I'll change my vote from #8 to #2. There we go... a tiebreaker. =D

I just think that it would be less moderating involved in world 2. Not that I hate 9 or 1. Those are realistic... but realism sometimes deters efficiency. So I was thinking if countries will concentrate around the middle area of world 2, we can have some SERIOUS maritime issues and such.

Well all the maps are the *exact* same size, so the continents in #2 are simply bigger. They're all set for 70% ocean coverage, so they all have identical total landmass.

Well, moderating two major continents, one minor continent, and few islands are easier than if we were to moderate ...erm...

i have NO idea what number of continents 8 has. It looks like one major continent, three minor continents, and some islands, but i can never be too sure...

Regardless, I like 2... in its own way. And I'm guessin our world is about the same size as earth? Or would it be bigger/smaller?

I generated these maps using 9,000 km circumference. By comparison, the Earth is 40,000 km. I can size up the map without damaging quality, though. It's just easier on memory and faster to generate 10 maps with lower circumference; my plan was to size it up to earth size after we picked one.

I have a feeling that we can even make the world smaller than Earth. Mainly there aren't as many countries, so more effective communication would mean that smaller earth would be awesome as well.

Although... larger that Earth would make the RP too hard... I WILL have to eventually get this rule down...

Nevermind, checked the settings and the world is 40,233.6 km which is the exact circumference of the Earth, I believe.

EDIT: Also the map is on the way. I'm going to spend the entire day working on it, getting mountains in nice spots and making the climate just right.

Satellite Map

Height Map

Climate Map

Ta da! All done. Have a look and if you want something changed, just ask. Map sizes are 4000x2000 pixels. Again, the poles are kind of warped (they are sort of squished) but I can get an accurate map of each individual continent, no problem. The issue is projecting the whole world on a rectangular map.

For the climate, some of the zones might need explaining. The tundra/alpine climate can either refer to an actual tundra, or an "alpine" or mountain climate. Taller mountains will have a tundra/alpine climate, which explains it's presence even near the equator. The different forest types are Boreal/Alpine, Temperate and Tropical Deciduous. Boreal forest is usually dominated by coniferous trees, such as Pine, Cedar, Redwood, etc., Temperate is dominated by Oak, Beech, Elm, etc. and Tropical Deciduous is basically jungle/rainforest. Chaparral, I'm not entirely sure what it is; I know that it is a type of forest biome, though, and it seems to occur on the borders between different temperature zones (such as between temperate and boreal forest) and seems to occur mostly in colder or temperate climates. According to wikipedia, it also tends to be the source of natural forest fires.

EDIT: I will also touch it up a bit, maybe later today or tomorrow or something.

When do we pick locations? Also, is resource allocation determined before or after we stake claims?

I say we should allocate resources beforehand. We also need to decide how we will pick locations, what continent to start on, and what map to use as the "base" political map.

I think, to start out, we use the old plot system to pick your initial location. However, after you have picked a starting location for your nation, the plot system will no longer be used and expansion and invasion will be based purely on the capabilities of your nation to establish influence over, and then hold onto, new land based on it's terrain type and your nation's economic and military situation.

Well, since "no-plot" system is your idea, I'll see how that works out... good luck with that ^^

As for resource allocation... yes, it WILL be AFTER the resource has been distributed firstly. Ras, once you are done with the map, can you start another thread to discuss the resource allocations? Oh and here is the current list of Resources that I am thinking of putting in the Tiberiam Roleplay. Consider them... and let me know if you add/subtract any of them.

Metaloids:
Aluminum
Chrome
Nickel
Iron
Uranium
Titanium
Copper
Platinum
Rare Earth Metals

Precious Metals/Stones
Gold
Silver
Beryl
Diamond

Fuel-Resource
Petroleum
Saltpeter (fyi: ore-like stone powder that is used to make military-grade explosives and fuels ballistic weapons)

Organic Resource
Timber
Silk
Tobacco
Sugar

Terrain Resource
Fertile Plain
Polar Ice Caps
Swampy Land
Rainforest

Btw I also updated the maps so they are a bit more realistic, especially the placement of climates. There is now a large desert in the western part of the biggest continent, and a smaller one along the west coast of the smallest continent. I also reduced the height of the mountain ranges because they were kind of ridiculous (for reference, the red areas are about 4,000 meters above sea level; Mount Everest is about 8,000 m above sea level. There were several mountain ranges over 12,000 m, so I lowered them a bit. The highest peak is about 8000-9000 m in the eastern area of the large continent. The mountains are now about 3000-4000 m above sea level, on average.

I also made the temperatures more realistic. Apparently, the hottest it got for average temps was 25 celsius and the coldest was a measely -15 celsius. Now the extremes are at 40 celsius and -50 celsius, like on Earth. There is even polar ice caps shown on the climate map, now.

Gee... thanks... you made my prime spot into a freaking desert.... gotta hate that damn random generated climates...

It looks good! I would love to play in them! I will have to figure out how the heck will I get my people fed in the worst possible condition, but I'm sure I can manage this somehow...

As for map restrictions... Ras, can we have it so that we DON'T have them? I mean... the public transportation of today should get us across the globe in less than a day... sure, deployment of military would take roughly a good few weeks, but that is usually how we run things in Tiberiam RP anyways. Even if we are spread out... I doubt that we will have any real trouble with the roleplaying. In fact, it MAY actually deter some of the unnecessary conflicts with resources =D

Alright, well I call dibs on land in the southern portion of the little continent. I may expand to take the entire south, in due time.

That's funny, since that's where I had my eyes set on. No big deal, I'll just take the northern part, or at least a portion of it anyway.
